Paul, Excellent, Work putting this together. Is there a trick to putting that map in there?
Ginger
Anonymous: Thanks a bunch!
Andrew: I did put a lot of effort into this. Thanks for noticing. The most time-consuming part? All of the school links. Never again!
Ginger: The map is actually available to the public at the district's website. Just had to save it, convert it to a JPEG and voila!
Very impressive. We have particular school districts that make homes in those districts very much in demand. Certain zip codes in my market, due to high school rankings, are worth from $20,000 to $50,000 in additional market value.
Julie: Thank you very much. The schools in Scottsdale are incredible. Arizona does not have the best reputation for schools, but that certainly does not apply here. My own graduating class had a very high number of students that attended Ivy League schools, including the class valedictorian attending Harvard. Many of the schools have open enrollment policies, as well, allowing students to cross district lines to attend a particular school. That info is available at the district's website.
Lenn: The same holds true here. In a planned community that I work heavily, there are two high schools. The boundary is one East/West street. Go North of this street, and the values are slightly higher on average than their counterparts to the South. It is a bit tricky to attribute 100% to the schools, however, as there are other factors at play such as lakefront and gold course locations that affect value as well. I do find that most families I work with opt to stay North of this boundary if possible. Thanks for reading, Lenn.
Linda: Thank you very much. I probably violated every single rule of SEO with all of the outbound links leading away from my blog, but I don't mind with this one. Parents really need to do as much research on this subject as possible.
Paul, I know you did a lot of research and work putting this together. But it's well worth the time and effort you devoted to it. The schools in Scottsdale are incredible schools. I used to live in Scottsdale and was President of the PTA at Laguna Elementary. Of course, that's the first place I went to when I saw your post -- nice to visit Laguna again. :)
